1964 – Simon and Garfunkel recorded The Sounds Of Silence. The record company subsequently (and without the duo's knowledge)

  added electric instruments to the duo's acoustic recording. It became a massive hit the following year.

1977 – The Sex Pistols signed to A&M records. The contract lasted six days.
